The Uzbekistan Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ulugbek Maksudov, recently engaged in a meeting with Abdullah bin Rahmatullah, the regional director of the World Islamic Association, Dunyo reports. The meeting primarily revolved around the discussion of securing humanitarian, financial, and technical aid from Saudi Arabia for the communities situated in the Aral Sea region.
In the course of their dialogue, they addressed various facets of assistance. This included the provision of modern equipment for schools, particularly those specializing in education, and hospitals receiving essential medical equipment. Additionally, they explored the means of offering impartial financial support to the inhabitants of the Aral Sea region, with a particular focus on delivering critical medical procedures such as heart and bone surgeries.
The meeting culminated in an agreement to facilitate an online meeting between the representatives of the Uzbekistan Ministry of Health and the World Islamic Association. This initiative aims to facilitate collaboration, including the dispatch of a group of Saudi surgeons to Uzbekistan and the donation of modern medical equipment to hospitals within the Republic of Karakalpakstan and Khorezm region. Moreover, possibilities for the practical implementation of these commitments will be explored.
Furthermore, it is pertinent to note that Saida Mirziyoyeva delivered a poignant speech addressing water-related concerns during a conference held at the UN headquarters in New York on March 23. She emphasized that the Aral Sea crisis serves as a stark reminder of the dire consequences that stem from human neglect of the environment. Nevertheless, she also highlighted that diligent efforts from compassionate individuals have begun to restore hope and renewal in the face of this environmental challenge.
