President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev chaired a meeting to discuss the economic performance of the first nine months of the current year, year-end expectations, and macroeconomic forecasts for 2024.
During the meeting, it was reported that Uzbekistan's economy grew by 5.8% from January to September. Industrial growth reached 5.7%, agriculture 4.1%, and the service sector 12.1%.
Exports increased by 23.5% to $17.7 billion. Investment in various sectors and regions amounted to 226.6 trillion Uzbek som, marking an 11.8% increase compared to the same period last year.
A GDP growth of at least 5.6% is expected by the end of the year. The President emphasized that the challenging and uncertain global situation has a negative impact on the economy, urging the utilization of domestic resources for sustained economic growth.
Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed the government to meticulously develop the economic program for 2024, aligning it with the goals outlined in the "Uzbekistan 2030" Strategy adopted in September. He stressed the need to accelerate reforms in the transportation, water, and utilities sectors while giving special attention to supporting the population and businesses.
