A meeting of the Turkmen-Romanian working group on energy cooperation was held in Bucharest, Romania, the Turkmenistan Merchant Marine Joint Stock Company reports.
The Turkmen delegation was headed by Guvanch Agadjanov, head of the Turkmenneft (Turkmen Oil) state corporation, and the Romanian delegation by Pavel-Casian Nițulescu, state secretary of the Romanian Ministry of Energy.
The parties discussed the prospects of implementing joint projects in such areas as diversification of energy sources and transport routes, oil and gas production and transportation, renewable energy and energy efficiency.
The Turkmen delegation included officials of the Turkmen Ministry of Finance and Economy, the Turkmengaz State Concern, the Turkmenenergo State Corporation, the Turkmenbashi Oil Refinery and the Merchant Marine.
Experts told Daryo that the country is interested in modernising refineries and building modern complexes to produce petrol, diesel fuel, aviation paraffin, polyethylene and polypropylene.
According to them, Romania and Turkmenistan are also promoting the Black Sea-Caspian Sea international transport route, which will optimise the activity of the seaports of Constanta (Romania) and Turkmenbashi.
The aim is to create a 2,500-km sea/road/rail intermodal transport route between Europe and Central Asia, using the shortest geographical corridor between the two regions.
