Russian President Vladimir Putin has arrived in Kyrgyzstan on October 12 for a visit with a focus on diplomatic and strategic discussions.
A central part of this visit is the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS) summit in Bishkek on October 13. Kyrgyzstan's President Sadyr Japarov will chair the summit, which will bring together leaders from various CIS member countries.
In conjunction with the CIS summit, there is the commemoration of the 20th anniversary of the Russian air base in Kant, highlighting Russia's longstanding military presence in the region. President Putin will hold separate discussions with his Kyrgyz counterpart, covering a range of topics, including bilateral cooperation and military-technical collaboration.
Additionally, President Putin will meet with other CIS leaders. On October 12, he is set to meet with Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev, focusing on issues surrounding Nagorno-Karabakh and the role of Russian peacekeepers in the region.
On October 13, President Putin will meet with the leader of Tajikistan, Emomali Rahmon, to discuss regional security and the operation of the Russian base in Tajikistan.
The discussions and meetings during the visit will have implications for regional stability, security, and cooperation within the CIS framework.
