The Ministry of Justice press service states that Uzbekistan has announced its plans to abandon state regulation of ticket prices for high-speed trains. The implementation of this practice is set to take effect next year.
To facilitate this transition, Uzbekistan will establish the following entities under Uzbekistan Temir Yullari and its subsidiaries until January 1, 2024:
- "Temiryulinfratuzilma" for road infrastructure operations, power supply, signalling and communication, locomotive facilities, a dispatch centre, and cargo stations.
- "Temiryulcargo" for cargo services, freight wagon and container facilities, multimodal transportation, logistics centres, and terminals.
- "Temirulexexpress" for high-speed passenger train services.
- "Temir yul vokzalkzallaripo" and "Shahar atrophy yulovchi tashish" for station operations and suburban passenger transportation under "Uztemyulyulovchi."
- "Temir yul izhtimoiy khizmatlar" for maintaining children's camps, health facilities, cultural, educational, and sports facilities.
From January 1, 2024, state regulation of ticket prices for high-speed and high-speed passenger trains will be abolished, and a market-based mechanism for price formation will be introduced. State regulation of tariffs for freight cars and containers will also be lifted. Starting January 1, 2025, the state budget will compensate for losses incurred from local passenger transportation services (excluding high-speed trains) and offer discounts on rail cargo transportation services.
Until January 1, 2027, a zero rate of customs duty will be applied to imported machinery and equipment used for loading and unloading operations by railway transport service providers.
