Military personnel from Belarus have officially arrived in Kyrgyzstan to participate in joint exercises with peacekeeping forces from other member states of the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) under the banner of "Indestructible Brotherhood 2023." The arrival of the Belarusian contingent marks a significant moment in these multinational military drills, which aim to enhance regional security and cooperation.
The Kyrgyz Republic's Ministry of Defense's General Staff confirmed the Belarusian military's arrival, with the contingent landing at Kant military airfield. They then proceeded to the exercise site in Balykchy, where a ceremonial welcome, presided over by the leadership of the Indestructible Brotherhood 2023 exercises, was held on the parade ground of military unit No. 20636.
From October 9 to October 13, on the basis of the Edelweiss training center of military unit No. 20636 of the Ministry of Defense, joint exercises with the peacekeeping forces of the CSTO member states Indestructible Brotherhood 2023 will be held with the participation of military contingents of the peacekeeping forces of Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan. Operational groups of the Joint Staff and the CSTO Secretariat will also take part in these joint exercises.
Belarus joins a cohort of CSTO member states that have already deployed their military contingents to Kyrgyzstan. On October 6, the Republic of Kazakhstan's Ministry of Defense sent its peacekeeping forces across the border into Kyrgyzstan via the "Ak-Tilek avtodorozhny" checkpoint. They safely reached the exercise site, where they were formally welcomed in a ceremony conducted by the leadership of military unit 20636.
Simultaneously, a Russian peacekeeping contingent embarked on a march from the settlement of Kant to the exercise site. These Russian forces, originally stationed in various permanent deployments, converged at the designated exercise area on October 6, where they, too, were greeted with a welcoming ceremony conducted by exercise leaders.
The joint exercises under the banner of "Indestructible Brotherhood 2023" are a testament to the collective commitment of CSTO member states to regional stability and security. Over the course of October 9 to October 13, Kyrgyzstan will play host to these exercises, providing a platform for military cooperation and interoperability among Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, and Tajikistan.
