Culture Minister of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, has initiated a project with a budget of almost UZS 500mn (approximately $40,978) to develop and implement an information portal featuring profiles of 10 accomplished artists, as per the directive issued by the minister on September 15, 2023.
It's important to highlight that this portal will curate information concerning individuals in the field of culture and art who have received state honors.
As outlined in the minister's directive, the project's initial stages involved an expenditure of UZS 30mn ($2,458) for project planning and concept development, along with UZS 40mn ($3,278) allocated for formulating the technical specifications of the project. The Ministry has set a 30-day timeline for crafting the software components of the portal's information system, for which an allotment of UZS 165mn ($13,522) has been made available.
A substantial portion of the allocated budget, amounting to UZS 85mn ($6,966), has been designated for the architecture design development of the information system. Additionally, UZS 60mn ($4,917) is earmarked for integrating the information system with other existing systems. The overall expenditure for this service, exclusive of VAT, totals UZS 488mn ($39,995), as acknowledged by the ministry.
The Ministry of Culture, under Ozodbek Nazarbekov's leadership, has been associated with significant budget allocations. Previously, there was public discourse surrounding the ministry's acquisition of two specialized vehicles costing UZS 15.5bn ($1.2mn). In response, the ministry clarified that this procurement was executed in accordance with a presidential decision.
