Representatives of "Quramax Medical" company, the manufacturer of the "Dok-1 Max" syrup, are requesting permission from the Uzbekistan authorities to sell other medicines in the country. This information was provided by Davron Ahmadov, a lawyer representing an Indian pharmaceutical company.
According to the lawyer, representatives of "Quramax Medical," including Davron Ahmadov himself as a lawyer, officially applied to the Ministry of Health, requesting permission to sell other drugs besides "Dok-1 Max" and "Ambronol" produced by the manufacturer.
"We have applied to the ministry, highlighting that the manufacturer owes UZS 10bn ($818,330), that the 'Quramax Medical' is not operating, and that liabilities have arisen. At the same time, we are requesting permission to sell other medicines produced by the manufacturer in local pharmacies. The ministry responded that 'Quramax Medical' does not have a license," said the lawyer.
According to Davron Ahmadov, there is no factual evidence confirming the poor quality and harm to health of more than 50 types of medicines with a total value of UZS 28bn ($2.2mn) produced by pharmaceutical companies in Uzbekistan.
"The situation became even more evident when the Pharmaceutical Development Agency of the company appealed to the court with a claim to remove not only "Dok-1 Max" and "Ambronol" medicines but also all medicines from the market. We protested this decision and filed a complaint in the appellate procedure.
The appellate instance also approved the decision of the first instance. After that, we complained in cassation and once again protected our rights. Ultimately, the court allowed the sale of other medicines produced by pharmaceutical companies. However, the Ministry of Health does not allow the sale of more than 50 types of medicines with a total value of UZS 28bn ($2.2mn), which can be easily sold in existing pharmacies in Uzbekistan," said Davron Ahmadov.
According to the lawyer, Elmira Bositkhonova, Deputy Minister of Health, responded to his additional inquiries as a lawyer.
The sale of all types of drug products manufactured by the Indian company "Marion Biotech" and its official representative in Uzbekistan, "Quramax Medical" has been suspended since December 30, 2022, and has been temporarily suspended.
The sale of the "Dok-1 Max" drug product was temporarily suspended from December 22, 2022. Moreover, a relevant note was given on the need to observe the return of surplus drug products to distributors and the prompt return of the drug product to the distributor who delivered the drug product to the pharmacies. It was reported that these drug products had been collected from all pharmacies in the country.
