In a significant development, Qatar has officially introduced a 30-day visa-free regime for citizens of Uzbekistan. The news was announced through the official portal of Qatar's government responsible for electronic visa issuance.
Uzbekistan is now among the 101 countries included in the list eligible for visa-free entry into Qatar. However, there are certain conditions that travelers from Uzbekistan must meet to benefit from this new policy. Firstly, the passport of the visitor must have a validity period of at least six months from the date of arrival in Qatar. Additionally, visitors are required to possess a return ticket or proof of onward travel to another country.
This pivotal ruling mirrors a corresponding action taken by Uzbekistan earlier this year. In June, a presidential edict was issued, ushering in a visa-free arrangement for Qatari nationals. In accordance with this proclamation, Qatari citizens are now entitled to a visa-free sojourn in Uzbekistan, allowing them to stay for a period of up to 30 days from the moment of their arrival in the country.
These diplomatic gestures toward visa-free travel come as a result of increased cooperation and friendly relations between the two nations. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan's recent visit to Qatar at the beginning of October played a pivotal role in solidifying these ties. Following extensive talks between President Mirziyoyev and the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, a series of bilateral agreements and documents were signed, underscoring the commitment of both countries to further enhance their economic, cultural, and diplomatic ties.
The new visa-free regime between Qatar and Uzbekistan is expected to boost tourism, business, and people-to-people exchanges, ultimately strengthening the bonds of friendship and cooperation between the two nations. It provides an excellent opportunity for citizens of both countries to explore each other's cultures, traditions, and landscapes without the hindrance of visa restrictions.
