Members of Turkmenistan's Mejlis (parliament) have unanimously ratified agreements with Qatar and Hungary on the mutual promotion and protection of investments, local TV channel Altyn Asyr reports.
The documents were signed this year during Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban's visit to Turkmenistan in June and Turkmen President Serdar Berdimuhamedov's visit to Qatar in March.
Experts told Daryo that Ashgabat expects these countries to participate in projects to diversify Turkmen gas supplies to Europe and South Asia.
Turkmenistan is interested in the participation of Qatar's large financial and investment structures in the Turkmenistan-Afghanistan-Pakistan-India (TAPI) gas pipeline project, the construction of which began in December 2015.
Hungary recently signed a political agreement with Turkmenistan on gas imports and commercial negotiations are planned. The Trans-Caspian gas pipeline project to Azerbaijan under the Caspian Sea could become part of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) infrastructure to Europe.
