A Turkmen-German business forum with the participation of the German Committee on Eastern European Economic Relations is to be held in Berlin on 20 November, local TV channel Altyn Asyr reports. Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty (People's Assembly) of Turkmenistan, said this at a meeting with the German business community in the conference hall of Berlin's Marriot Hotel.
"The mutual potential can be used much more effectively, first of all, taking into account the diversification of Turkmenistan's economy ...We are at a stage when we need large-scale, breakthrough joint projects that would become the locomotive of economic co-operation."
According to him, Ashgabat is ready to discuss supplies of machinery and equipment for the oil and gas sector, introduction of technologies in solar and hydrogen energy and modernisation of transport infrastructure.
German companies offered their innovative technologies in construction, transport, communications and energy, agriculture, finance and banking sectors.
To date, 196 investment projects and contracts with the participation of German capital totalling about $1.6bn have been registered in Turkmenistan. The likes of Man, Siemens, Daimler, Claas, Rohde & Schwarz and DresserRand are involved in long-term projects in the local market.
