The XV Tashkent International Film Festival, also known as the "Pearl of the Silk Road," is set to take place in Uzbekistan from September 29 to October 2 this year. Among the festival's distinguished participants is Samy Naceri, renowned for his role in the "Taxi" film series, as confirmed by the festival's organizers.
During the film festival, a special creative meeting with Samy Naceri is planned, providing attendees with a unique opportunity to engage with the celebrated actor.
Samy Naceri's notable career took a pivotal turn with the release of the first "Taxi" film in 1998 when he was 37 years old. His journey into the world of acting began at the age of 16 after leaving school and entering the workforce. Samy's initial forays into the performing arts led to his debut appearance in the 1995 film "Rai," directed by Thomas Gilou. Additionally, he made a memorable appearance as one of the helmeted policemen in Luc Besson's acclaimed film "Leon."
Recognition of Samy Naceri's acting prowess came with the Best Actor Award for his role as Yassir in the 2006 film "Days of Glory." However, starting from the year 2000, Samy encountered various personal challenges. In 2003, he faced legal repercussions, including a 6,000 euro fine and a three-year suspension of his driver's license, stemming from an incident of drunk driving.
Subsequently, in November 2005, after waiting for a late guest, Naceri attacked a 22-year-old man with an ashtray at a Paris restaurant and spent two months in jail. In 2008, despite his earlier license suspension, he was again involved in a legal matter for driving a car and striking a police officer, resulting in a €7,500 fine, a six-month prison sentence, and obligatory participation in alcohol rehabilitation programs.
Furthermore, in 2018, Samy Naceri was embroiled in a legal dispute after a physical altercation with individuals from Belarus in a Moscow karaoke bar. Remarkably, despite these personal challenges, his career remains unaffected and continues to thrive.
