An explosion and fire occurred at the Inter Logistics warehouse in Tashkent's Sergeli district on September 28. The Ministry of Emergency Situations has carefully assessed the situation, Daryo reports.
The governmental department received a report of the fire caused by lightning at 2:43 a.m. Fire rescue units arrived at 2:48 a.m. and were able to surround the fire by 5:02 a.m. and completely extinguish it by 10:47 a.m.
Over 2,000 personnel and 210 vehicles from the fire brigade and other relevant organizations were involved in the firefighting efforts, which saved 30,000 square meters and limited the damage to a 15,000 square meter area.
The investigation is ongoing, with the Tashkent City Prosecutor's Office, the General Directorate of Internal Affairs, and the Emergency Situations Department working together to determine the extent of material damage caused by the incident.
The fire resulted in an explosion that claimed the life of one teenager, while 163 people sustained injuries.
The Investigative Department of the Ministry of Internal Affairs has initiated a criminal case under Article 259 of the Criminal Code (violation of fire safety regulations), part 2, clauses "a" and "b."
In response, the President of Uzbekistan, Shavkat Mirziyoyev, has formed a government commission to investigate the incident, manage losses, and assist those affected.
