Amidst the growing concerns over Western nations supplying arms to Ukraine, Dmitry Medvedev, the Deputy Secretary of Russia's Security Council, has escalated the situation with further threats, expressing his views on his Telegram channel.
Medvedev specifically addressed Canada's assistance to Ukraine, as well as the delivery of U.S. Abrams tanks and ATACMS missiles, marking these developments as significant concerns.
In his statement, Medvedev suggested that Russia may be left with no option but to engage in a direct conflict with NATO forces on the ground. He made a controversial comparison, likening NATO to the Axis powers led by Hitler during World War II, albeit on a larger scale. He went on to emphasize that the potential consequences of such a conflict would be far more devastating for humanity compared to the outcome of World War II but implied that Russia is prepared for such a scenario.
Regarding the arms shipments, the United States has pledged to send a total of 31 Abrams M1A1 tanks to Ukraine. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed the arrival of the initial batch of tanks on September 25.
Furthermore, the U.S. has announced its intention to supply Ukraine with a limited quantity of ATACMS long-range missiles. However, specific details about when these missiles will be dispatched and the official announcement of the supply timeline have not been disclosed. Ukraine has asserted that these missiles will not be used against Russia.
