"Russia should not underestimate Ukraine and its counter-offensive," said Dmitry Medvedev, the former President of Russia and current Deputy Chairman of the Security Council, on his Telegram channel.
Medvedev believes that Ukraine is currently "forced to attack to justify" the funds and weapons it has received. He further stated, "However, the enemy and the Western world supporting it are ready to do everything to destroy our country from the face of the earth. That's why the main thing now is to concentrate as much as possible and respond appropriately."
Medvedev suggests that Russia should first cease its own offensive actions before initiating any further steps.
"Russia should pay attention to the danger posed by Ukraine's counter-offensive. We should not underestimate the enemy," Medvedev cautioned.
Ukrainian authorities have repeatedly announced their preparations for a counter-attack in recent months. Anna Malyar, Ukraine's Deputy Minister of Defense, stated on June 5 that the Armed Forces had begun offensive operations in certain areas, with the Bakhmut direction being a key focus. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyi also highlighted progress in this regard.
Dmitry Kuleba, the Ukrainian Foreign Minister, previously stated, "Kyiv has enough weapons for a counterattack." He added that Ukraine would utilize the support of tanks, armored vehicles, and artillery provided by its Western allies in their offensive plans.
