A group of deputies from the Corruption Counteraction and Legal Issues Committee of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis has initially reviewed a draft law related to amendments and additions to certain legal documents of the Republic of Uzbekistan. This information was reported by the parliamentary press service.
According to reports, the draft law is being considered alongside 13 other laws and one amendment and addition to the code.
In particular, the draft law seeks to further solidify the right of citizens, not less than 100, to submit legislative proposals to the Legislative Chamber, Senate, Ombudsman, and the Central Election Commission. This provision aims to enhance citizen participation in state affairs.
Additionally, the powers of the faction leaders in the Legislative Chamber are being specifically defined. The parliamentary inspection will be carried out by a special commission composed of members of the Legislative Chamber and the Senate on an equal basis.
Furthermore, the parliamentarians are granted the legal right to summon reports from government members and receive information from heads of state bodies, with the obligation to provide such information.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the committee members made decisions in accordance with the principles and norms of international law and the final results of public discussions. The issue of presenting the draft law conceptually to the parliament session has been resolved.
Previously, it was reported that the draft law on amendments and additions to the Criminal, Criminal Procedure Codes, and the Administrative Responsibility Code was also reviewed in the plenary session of the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis.
