Uzbekistan is poised to become the world’s second-largest exporter of fresh apricots this season, following a notable surge in export volumes between April and June 2025. According to data from EastFruit and the National Statistics Committee, the country exported 54,100 tonnes of fresh apricots during the three-month period—an 18% increase compared to 46,000 tonnes in the same period last year.

Shipments of early harvests began in late April, marking a strong start to the export season. Analysts say the growth reflects both favorable growing conditions in Uzbekistan and adverse weather in competing countries, most notably Türkiye.
Since 2018, Uzbekistan has consistently ranked among the top three exporters of fresh apricots, with the exception of 2021 and 2022, when extreme weather damaged local harvests. The country rebounded in 2023 and 2024, claiming third place globally behind Spain and Türkiye.
However, this year’s export dynamics may shift the global rankings. Severe spring frosts in Türkiye have significantly reduced that country’s apricot and other stone fruit yields, opening the door for Uzbekistan to move up in the standings.
“Given the current export trends and Türkiye’s projected shortfall, Uzbekistan has a real chance to become the world’s second-largest exporter of fresh apricots this season,” EastFruit analysts said.
Earlier it was reported that in the first half of 2025, Uzbekistan exported 311,000 tons of fruit valued at $368.6mn. The country produces 3.4mn tons of fruit and 1.9mn tons of grapes annually. In 2024, total exports of fruits, vegetables, and food products reached $2.3bn, with $1.5bn coming specifically from fruits and vegetables.
In 1H25 fruit and vegetable exports rose by 40%, supporting overall export growth. Other sectors also saw significant gains, including jewelry (up 4.6 times), uranium (23%), construction materials (17%), flour (42%), pharmaceuticals (20%), tourism (54%), information services (93%), and transport services (22%).
