Shanghai LinkWise Data Intelligence will develop two large-scale data centers in Uzbekistan, each with a capacity of 300 MW, bringing the total planned capacity to 600 MW. The projects will be located in the Bukhara and Surkhandarya regions, according to the Ministry of Energy.

The announcement follows a meeting on July 24 between Uzbekistan’s Minister of Energy Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov and a visiting delegation from the Chinese company. The sides discussed ongoing projects involving Chinese firms in the country’s energy sector and explored future cooperation opportunities.
As part of the visit, the Ministry of Energy and Shanghai LinkWise signed a memorandum of understanding for the construction of the first 300 MW data center in the Bukhara region. The second facility, to be located in Surkhandarya, is planned for future development.

Both parties agreed to expedite preparatory work to ensure timely implementation of the Bukhara project in accordance with the memorandum.
The initiative aligns with Uzbekistan’s broader digital infrastructure goals. In December 2024, Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov announced plans to launch cloud data centers in the Bukhara, Fergana, and Tashkent regions to support the country’s growing digital economy.
