Foreign Minister Bakhtiyar Saidov held a meeting with the newly designated ambassador of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan, Muhammad Monirul Islam, on August 29 and shared his impressions.
"We are pleased to have received the copies of credentials presented by Mr. Mohammad Monirul Islam, who has been appointed as the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of Bangladesh to Uzbekistan. Both Uzbekistan and Bangladesh are demonstrating consistent economic growth, aligning with shared objectives and considerable prospects for further collaborative advancements. The Uzbekistan Ministry of Foreign Affairs is fully prepared to enhance and expedite bilateral relations across various domains," the Foreign Minister expressed in his statement.
Muhammad Monirul Islam assumed the role previously held by Muhammad Jahangir Alam, who served as the Bangladesh Embassy's head in Tashkent from 2020 to 2023.
At 48 years old, the new ambassador brings with him a wealth of experience, having been an integral part of the Bangladeshi Ministry of Foreign Affairs since 2001. Prior to his posting in Tashkent, he fulfilled roles within his country's consulate generals based in Istanbul and New York.
Recent developments in diplomatic appointments have also included Furqat Siddikov's deputation as the ambassador of Uzbekistan to Brazil. Additionally, the ambassadorial representation of Turkmenistan in Uzbekistan has transitioned, and a new ambassador from Malaysia has been designated to serve in Uzbekistan.
