Interpol's National Central Bureau of the Ministry of Internal Affairs successfully transported a fraud suspect from Managua to Tashkent, the bureau announces.
The operation was a collaborative effort involving various entities including the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan, US Customs and Border Services, and diplomatic security services in multiple countries. Despite geographical challenges and time differences, the process was orchestrated by the General Secretariat's Command and Coordination Center along with Uzbekistan's National Central Bureau of Interpol.
The suspect's whereabouts were initially lost in Central America, but through coordinated efforts, authorities apprehended the individual who was engaged in criminal activities such as illegal migration and facilitating the transfer of foreign citizens to the USA via Latin American nations. Following a swift information exchange, the decision was made to extradite and transfer the fraudster to Uzbekistan for prosecution.
This successful case joins a series of extradition accomplishments. Earlier in 2023, a citizen impersonating an embassy employee was extradited from Latvia, while another internationally wanted individual was brought back from Sweden. In Moscow, a person who was convicted for a crime committed 13 years prior in Uzbekistan was arrested and extradited. In Kyrgyzstan, two individuals suspected of affiliating with a terrorist organization were apprehended in collaboration with authorities.
