More than 9.1mn electric vehicles (EVs) were sold worldwide in the first six months of 2025, marking a 28% increase compared to the same period last year, according to British research firm Rho Motion, as reported by Anadolu Agency.

China remained the dominant player in the global EV market, accounting for 5.5mn units sold—over half of total global sales. This represents a 32% year-on-year increase in the country’s EV sales. Analysts expect China’s momentum to continue through the second half of the year.
Europe also saw significant growth, with EV sales rising 26% to reach approximately 2mn units. Meanwhile, North America experienced a slight decline, with sales dropping 3% to around 900,000 units.
In other regions, including parts of Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East, EV sales surged by 40%, reaching 700,000 units.
Despite regional disparities, the global electric vehicle market continues its steady upward trajectory, reflecting a broader shift toward cleaner transportation solutions.

Uzbekistan's EV Sales
EV sales in Uzbekistan rose sharply by 62.6% in the first half of 2025 compared to the same period last year, totaling 28,800 units. Growth was particularly strong in the Syrdarya, Khorezm, and Kashkadarya regions.
Although June sales dipped slightly by 1.7% from May to 5,100 units, analysts say year-on-year trends point to sustained market expansion.
As of April 1, 2025, Uzbekistan had 65,200 registered EVs, with nearly 76% concentrated in Tashkent. Surkhandarya recorded the fewest, with just 198 units.
Earlier, the Boston Consulting Group (BCG) forecast annual growth of around 6% in Uzbekistan’s automotive market through 2030, driven by broader economic conditions such as GDP trends, currency stability, and monetary policy.
