From 1972 to July 2023, Turkey has implemented 11,768 construction projects worth $482bn abroad, of which 10.6% were carried out in Turkmenistan.
Turkey's Ministry of Trade reports that the volume of projects implemented in the Central Asian country exceeded $50.8bn during this period.
Russia ranks first with $97.9bn worth of projects, followed by Iraq with $33.2bn in orders. Other important construction markets for Turkish firms include Libya and Kazakhstan.
About 600 companies from Turkey are registered in Turkmenistan, operating in trade, construction, energy, transport, communications and textiles.
Their track record includes a modern resort and seaport on the Caspian Sea, a major airport and the Olympic City in Ashgabat. They have also built large textile complexes, medical centres and an industrial cluster for the production of construction materials in Turkmenistan.
