A group of 45 children along with five accompanying elders has arrived in Uzbekistan from Ukraine to rest and rehabilitate. The Ambassador of Ukraine in Tashkent, Mykola Doroshenko, shared this news on his official Facebook page.
The children, hailing from various Ukrainian cities including Kharkiv, Kherson, Mykolaiv, Zaporizhzhia, Sumy, Khmelnytskyi, Lviv, and Kyiv, are set to enjoy a 12-day stay at the picturesque mountain resort (children's camp) "Anor."
Doroshenko expressed his appreciation for the warm and genuine reception that was extended to the Ukrainian visitors, noting that it was carried out in accordance with the rich national traditions of Uzbekistan. He further extended his gratitude to the business community and public organizations in Uzbekistan for their swift response to his appeal for assistance, allowing the Ukrainian citizens to take a break from the distressing backdrop of air strikes and missile attacks.
The ambassador expressed his confidence that the children would have the opportunity to immerse themselves in the culture and traditions of the Uzbek people during their stay in the country.
Current statistics indicate that there are more than 4mn individuals from Ukraine who have been recognized as refugees and granted temporary protection status within European Union countries. Notably, the number of such refugees increased by approximately 46,000 in June alone, marking a 1.1% rise compared to the previous month.
