According to the International Organization for Migration (IOM), migrants on a boat discovered in the Atlantic Ocean near the coasts of Cabo Verde have tragically lost their lives, Le Figaro has reported.
63 people have lost their lives, while 38 migrants, including four children, managed to be rescued. Presently, 56 people are still considered missing.
As recounted by the survivors, the boat set off from the Senegalese coast in the fishing village of Fass-Bouï on July 10 with 101 passengers on board.
A Spanish fishing vessel spotted the boat on August 14, approximately 277 km away from one of the islands of Cape Verde, and promptly informed the authorities of Cabo Verde.
