The Ministry of Justice's press service has announced that in Uzbekistan, the customs clearance fee for imported pharmaceuticals and medical devices will be abolished. Currently, there is a charge of 1.2% based on the customs value for these goods upon import, which will be discontinued starting from January 1, 2025.
From January 1, 2024, the exemption procedure for mandatory conformity assessment of products imported from certain countries will also be eliminated. Furthermore, changes will be introduced to the regulations for labeling imported goods in the national language.
Uzbekistan is set to develop proposals:
- By October 1, 2023, for the automation (digitization) of the process for obtaining import licenses.
- By January 1, 2024, for adapting the subsidy system for compensating transportation expenses to meet the requirements of the World Trade Organization.
- By November 1, 2023, for the harmonization of customs duty rates applied to the clearance of goods under the "export" and "import" customs regimes, in line with WTO stipulations.
