Deputy Administrator Isobel Coleman met with Uzbekistan Minister of Digital Technologies Sherzod Shermatov on August 15 to discuss the U.S.-Uzbekistan partnership in supporting the IT sector, developing the digital economy, and promoting private sector growth in Uzbekistan.
The meeting resulted in the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between USAID and the Ministry of Digital Technologies.
USAID will collaborate with the Uzbekistan Government through the MoU to implement the Digital Uzbekistan 2030 Strategy. This partnership will help advance the IT and communications sectors in the country by engaging youth and women in IT, linking technical educational institutions, and fostering private sector growth. USAID also aims to cooperate on other IT-related initiatives.
Since 1993, USAID has supported the people of Uzbekistan in promoting economic and social development and looks forward to continued partnership to help integrate Uzbekistan into the Central Asia region.
