Kamoliddin Muminzod, the Chairman of the Tourism Development Committee under the Government of Tajikistan, reported that around 628,000 foreign citizens visited Tajikistan in the first half of this year. This is an increase of 181,867 visitors compared to the same period in 2022.
Of these visitors, 487,403 were tourists, which is 34.2% higher than the first half of last year.
34,000 came from distant foreign countries, while more than 453,000 represent CIS member states.
The top countries whose citizens visited Tajikistan the most were Uzbekistan (over 368,000), and Russia (around 65,000), followed by Kazakhstan, Türkiye, and China.
Muminzod estimated that, on average, every tourist in Tajikistan spends $200-250 per day.
Tajikistan is home to a wealth of cultural heritage and awe-inspiring natural beauty. Its most notable tourist destinations include the Pamir Highway, a picturesque road trip featuring the grand Pamir Mountains; Iskanderkul Lake, a charming lake surrounded by mountains; the Fann Mountains, a favorite spot for hikers offering stunning views; Rudaki Park, a lovely park located in Dushanbe, the capital city; Hissor Fortress, a historical fortress with origins dating back to the 7th century; the Tajik National Museum, which exhibits the rich history and culture of the country; Khorog Bazaar, a vibrant market in Khorog city; the Wakhan Valley, a remote and rugged valley situated along the Afghan border; Sarez Lake, a stunning glacial lake nestled in the Pamir Mountains; and the Shahriston Pass, a scenic drive featuring mountainous terrain.
