Just like Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan has increased the age range for youth to 35 years old.
The President of Kyrgyzstan, Sadyr Japarov, inked the relevant law just before its implementation. This means that the legislation now considers Kyrgyzstanis between the ages of 14 and 35 as youth in the country.
The document was adopted by the Jogorku Kenesh, composed of 90 deputies, and serves as the unicameral Parliament of Kyrgyzstan on June 21, 2023.
Its main goal is to establish the mechanisms for the formation of youth policy and the involvement of young people in all areas of state activity.
The law includes provisions for the primary activities of the authorized state body in the field of youth policy, the creation of equal opportunities for the involvement of young people with disabilities and vulnerable groups, the collaboration of state and local government bodies in the development and implementation of youth policy, mechanisms for protecting their rights and interests, promoting entrepreneurship and youth employment, and matters concerning financial support for state youth policy.
Earlier this year, Kazakhstan also increased the age for young people to 35 years, which increased the number of young people from 3.7mn to 6mn.
