Tajikistan's Ministry of Transport has revealed that approximately 1,600 electric vehicles are currently operating on the roads of the country. Minister of Transport Azim Ibrokhim has expressed concerns regarding the proper disposal of batteries, which he highlighted during a press conference held in the country's capital Dushanbe.
Recognizing the importance of establishing adequate recycling points that can handle lithium batteries, the Minister emphasized the need to seek guidance from advanced countries on this issue.
He also stressed the importance of maintenance and charging points for electric cars and shared that the government has already allocated funds for this initiative, while also attracting direct investment from investors.
Although there are currently only 36 charging stations out of 169 planned stations in the republic, the government is working towards creating widespread infrastructure for electric transport, as per a decree issued earlier this year.
