As per the latest weather forecast, the Committee for Emergency Situations and Civil Defence has issued a warning regarding a potential dust storm on July 29 in various regions of Tajikistan, media reports.
The Khatlon region, districts under Republican subordination, and the city of Dushanbe are expected to be affected by this storm, primarily due to heightened wind activity.
The storm is likely to cause air pollution, with suspended dust particles measuring ten μm (Pm-10) and 2.5 μm (Rm-2.5) posing a significant threat.
To ensure personal safety during the storm, the Committee recommends wearing masks and conducting at least two or three wet cleanings of premises.
From July 29 to 31, the western districts of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, Sughd Region, and districts under Republican subordination may experience local village convergence. With this in mind, the agency advises caution while traveling through passes and mountain roads and engaging in activities such as collecting herbs, firewood, fishing, and hunting.
Moreover, the Committee strongly recommends careful grazing of rangelands near water to avoid mudslide-related consequences. It also urges the population to clear settlements, rivers, sayas, canals, and other water bodies near or on the territory of the settlements to prevent mudslide-related consequences.
