During a meeting between the Uzbek delegation led by Tanzila Norboyeva and A. Decot, the secretary general of France's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the possibility of establishing a branch of the French Alliance in Samarkand was brought up, the Senate's press service reports.
Both parties acknowledged the recent establishment of a robust political dialogue between France and Uzbekistan, resulting in renewed significance in their bilateral relations. As part of this discussion, they explored the potential of setting up a branch of the French Alliance in Samarkand, aimed at empowering Uzbek youth. The French Alliance experts have developed educational programs to enhance French language teaching in Uzbekistan.
Earlier, during a meeting in 2023 with the Ambassador of France to Uzbekistan, Aurelia Bouchez, there were also exchanges of views concerning the opening of a French Alliance in Samarkand.
In 2021, Shavkat Mirziyoyev also emphasized the importance of strengthening cooperation with non-state educational institutions and foreign partners like the British Council, Goethe Institute, French Alliance, KOICA, JICA, and the Confucius Institute for teaching foreign languages.
