The presidential decision on the establishment of the new city has been passed, involving the collaboration of several foreign companies to expedite and ensure the high-quality development of Young Tashkent City's master plan. Singapore's Meinhardt Pte. Ltd., Foster and Partners from the UK, and OMA from the Netherlands are among the companies already engaged in practical work, Lex.uz reports.
To implement the project efficiently, a Directorate for the establishment of New Tashkent City has been formed as a state institution under the Cabinet of Ministers. The directorate's key responsibilities include:
- Developing and approving development plans, network plans, and address programs for the New Tashkent City territory, incorporating best practices from developed countries and involving leading foreign and local project organizations.
- Negotiating with potential investors, selecting suitable ones, and entering into agreements for the implementation of projects.
- Ensuring compliance with special technical conditions during project research and construction assembly works and monitoring their execution.
- Serving as the client for the construction of social infrastructure, engineering and communication networks, and road transport infrastructures within New Tashkent City.
- Engaging domestic and foreign companies with extensive experience in modern housing construction, providing them with instructions on utilizing modern methods, energy-efficient technologies, and building materials.
Until January 1, 2027, the directorate, investors, main project, and general contracting organizations will be exempted from paying customs duty for construction machinery, equipment, components, and spare parts that are not produced in Uzbekistan and are imported for the project.
New Tashkent City is envisioned to accommodate a population of 500,000 and will be situated between the Chirchik and Karasuv rivers. On March 18, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev laid the foundation stone for the ambitious "New Tashkent" project.
