Two Bukhara deer were killed by poachers in the Beruni State Forest at the Lower Amu Darya State Biosphere Reserve in Karakalpakstan.
Reportedly, the bodies were discovered on July 16 at 6 pm.
Reserve Board inspectors responded by setting up an ambush to investigate the situation and identified two masked men who fled upon sight of the inspectors.
Prompt action by the inspectors led to the arrest of three men, S. A. (born 1993), R. B. (1990), and Y. D. (1985), residing in Biibozor village.
The Beruni district's Internal Affairs Department is conducting a preliminary investigation into the incident.
Earlier, MP Elena Babenko reported that Uzbekistan's Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change had established a call center that operates 24/7 to receive complaints about environmental harm. In the preceding week, the call center received 522 appeals, out of which 374 were resolved immediately, while 148 are presently under examination by specialists from the ministry and its territorial divisions.
