Uzbekistan's cherry export industry has experienced significant growth, contributing to the country's economic success. On July 17, Statistics agency's calculations reported that cherry exports generated a revenue of $38.9 mn. The export volume showed a notable increase of 14,400 tons compared to the same period the previous year, with Uzbekistan exporting 24,400 tons of cherries to 14 countries worldwide, earning $33.3 million from January to June 2022.
Russia emerged as the largest market for Uzbekistan's cherry exports, with a substantial shipment of 19,800 tons. Additionally, Kazakhstan received 6,400 tons of cherries, while Kyrgyzstan imported 6,100 tons. Other destinations included Belarus, which received 333 tons, the UAE with 36 tons, China with 29 tons, Malaysia with 17 tons, and Saudi Arabia with 10.5 tons.
The growth in cherry exports highlights the success of Uzbekistan's agricultural sector and its ability to meet international demand. The country's cherries are gaining recognition for their quality and taste, making them sought after in various markets. The increased export volume not only contributes to the country's revenue but also supports the livelihoods of farmers and strengthens the agricultural sector as a whole.
Earlier Daryo mentioned that from January to May 2023, Uzbekistan's export of fruits and vegetables amounted to 653.8 thousand tons, with a total value of $409.4 mn and cherries were among the most popular products.
