On July 15, the eighth shipment of "Daclatasvir," an anti-hepatitis C drug, arrives in Tashkent, "Dunyo" reports. This delivery is part of the humanitarian aid provided by Egypt to Uzbekistan, following agreements reached during the official visit of Uzbekistan's President to Egypt on February 20-21, 2023.
The initiative of treating Hepatitis C at 100% state expense, put forth by Uzbekistan's head of state, is being implemented through this aid, and negotiations with the Egyptian healthcare authorities facilitated the shipment.
The delivered batch comprises over 3,000 pieces of "Daclatasvir" drugs packed in 114 boxes, and it will be distributed to patients after treatment by the Virology Research Institute under the Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan.
Egypt has made remarkable progress in combating hepatitis B and C viruses. The Egyptian Ministry of Health informs that the country's population has been fully treated for this disease, and Minister Khalid Abdughaffar announced this achievement at the 76th session of the WHO held in Geneva on May 21-30, 2023.
International organizations have studied Egypt's accomplishments in this area, and a report certifying the complete eradication of the hepatitis C virus is expected to be published and presented to the Egyptian government in June of this year.
The Egyptian government's success in fighting hepatitis C is attributed to its "100mn healthy lives" national program, which has been effectively implemented by establishing strong collaborations with renowned pharmaceutical companies worldwide.
Egypt has been exporting anti-hepatitis C and B drugs to Uzbekistan in multiple shipments since April 29, with the previous shipment arriving on June 21.
