It is expected that the new aircraft of the airline will begin flying within Uzbekistan in the coming days. The first LET L-410 plane for Uzbekistan Airways has arrived in Tashkent, according to the press service of the national carrier, Spot.uz reports.
The light aircraft landed at the capital's airport on the afternoon of July 15. Airport and airline staff ceremoniously welcomed the aircraft and crew with a water salute.
Uzbekistan Airways reached an agreement to purchase a batch of 4 L-410 aircraft from Czech company LET Aircraft Industries a month ago. They are planned to be used for the development of local air transportation and domestic tourism.
The company intends to operate L-410 flights to airports with short runways, such as Zarafshan, Shakhrisabz, and Andijan. The first flight of the new aircraft will take place this week, according to the company. The L-410 can carry up to 19 passengers or 1.8 tons of cargo over a maximum range of 1,500 km. The aircraft has been manufactured by the Czech LET factory (currently part of the Omnipol holding) since 1970 and is currently used in more than 60 countries worldwide, according to the manufacturer.
In 2018, LET began production of an upgraded version of the aircraft, the L-410 NG, which is designed for distances of up to 2,500 km.
