On July 15, a delegation from Uztekstilprom engaged in discussions with the Georgian Clothes and Fashion Association, as well as over ten import-export companies from Georgia. After fruitful negotiations, the parties officially signed a memorandum of cooperation. The purpose of this memorandum is to enhance bilateral trade and investment connections, with a specific emphasis on integrating Georgian companies into Uzbekistan's textile industry.
Furthermore, a Memorandum of Cooperation was signed with David Ebralidze, the General Director of the Poti Free Economic Zone, outlining the establishment of a logistics centre within the Poti FEZ. The memorandum also includes provisions for implementing a tax on products originating from Uzbekistan and exported to the United States, Canada, and Japan. Additionally, the document aims to foster collaboration with enterprises within FEZ territories, exempting them from customs duties by utilising the GSP+ system in Georgia with these aforementioned countries.
Throughout the day, B2B meetings were conducted, engaging with key figures from the Georgian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, as well as leaders of prominent manufacturers and brand companies such as Delta Textile, Rumor, Femi Georgia, Wooxy, and Ninea. The primary objective of these meetings was to expand trade relationships and place orders for ready-made clothing from Uzbek enterprises. Substantial agreements were reached, and plans were made to organise a business mission consisting of Georgian companies to Uzbekistan.
Georgian Prime Minister Irakli Garibashvili conveyed his gratitude for the robust and amicable ties between Uzbekistan and Georgia. He underscored the rapid progress being made in their bilateral relations, highlighting Uzbekistan Prime Minister Abdulla Aripov's visit as evidence of this positive trajectory, Georgian Public Broadcaster reported on July 17.
