India's leading software services exporter, Infosys, has announced a significant deal to provide artificial intelligence (AI) and automation services to an undisclosed client.
The agreement spans over five years, with an estimated target spend of $2bn. The deal includes the development, modernization, and maintenance of AI and automation-related services.
The client's identity has not been disclosed by Infosys, but the company expressed its commitment to providing cutting-edge AI solutions to meet the client's needs. With the global popularity of Microsoft-backed OpenAI's generative chatbot, ChatGPT, companies worldwide have been increasing their investments in AI technologies.
Infosys' decision to enter this deal follows a similar move by its rival, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), which recently announced plans to train 25,000 engineers for certification on Microsoft's Azure Open AI platform. Another competitor, Wipro, has also revealed its intention to invest $1bn in AI over the next three years.
In May, Infosys, headquartered in Bengaluru, introduced a platform called Infosys Topaz, specifically designed for generative AI. The company has been actively expanding its AI capabilities and offerings, and this latest deal further solidifies its position as a key player in the AI and automation space.
Investors and industry analysts are eagerly awaiting Infosys' first-quarter results, which are scheduled to be announced on July 20.
