Russian President Putin vows Response to Crimea bridge attack, calls it "terrorist act"

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared on Monday that the Russian Defense Ministry is actively formulating proposals for a comprehensive response to the recent attack on the road bridge connecting Crimea to southern Russia. During a televised meeting with national and regional officials to assess the situation, Putin directly assigned blame to Ukraine for the incident, Reuters reports.

Describing the attack as a "terrorist act," Putin reiterated that the Crimean bridge had not been utilized for military logistics for an extended period of time. He condemned the senseless and cruel nature of the assault, which tragically resulted in the loss of innocent civilian lives.

"At the end, I would like to repeat that what has happened is yet another terrorist act (committed by) Kyiv regime. This crime is senseless from the military standpoint, because the Crimean bridge is not used for military logistics since long ago. It is also a cruel (crime) because innocent civilians have been killed. Of course, there will be a response from the Russian side. The defence ministry is preparing adequate proposals."

Putin's statement, delivered in Moscow, shed light on the escalating tensions between Russia and Ukraine. While Ukraine has not officially claimed responsibility for the attack, reports from Ukrainian media sources suggest that Ukrainian security services may have deployed maritime drones in the vicinity.

Addressing the gravity of the situation, Putin emphasized the active role of the Russian Defense Ministry in formulating an appropriate response. He stated, "Of course, there will be a response from the Russian side. The defense ministry is preparing adequate proposals."

On July 17 Daryo reported that a couple had died and one person was injured as a result of the explosion and that Ukrainian authorities have not claimed responsibility for the blast.
