A tragic incident unfolded in Poland on July 17 as a small passenger plane crashed into the hangar of the Warsaw Flying Club in the village of Hrcynno, resulting in the country's deadliest plane crash in the past nine years, AP News reports on July 18.
The incident took place during rainy weather, claiming the lives of at least five people, including the pilot, while injuring eight others, including a child.
The crash occurred as the plane was attempting to land amidst challenging weather conditions. Prior to the accident, approximately ten individuals sought shelter in the hangar to escape a thunderstorm. Sadly, only one person survived among the three occupants of the aircraft.
Authorities, including a special commission, are investigating the circumstances surrounding the tragedy. This incident marked Poland's most severe skydiving-related accident since 2014, when a small plane crashed near the city of Czestochowa, resulting in the loss of 11 lives.
