Rescuers from the Department of Emergency Situations of the Turkestan Region found the body of a missing 56-year-old man on July 11, at an altitude of approximately 3,800 metres above sea level, according to the press service of the Emergency Situations Ministry of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The information shows that the deceased is being brought down on foot. The operation is complicated by a 20 cm thick layer of snow and the mountainous terrain.
Last week, in the territory of the Sayram-Ugam National Park, three people were descending from the summit of a mountain at an altitude of 4,236 metres above sea level. At some point, one of the men's rope snapped, causing the tourist to slide on ice and fall down the slope.
Search operations were initiated on July 6th, involving eight members of the emergency response squad of the Department of Emergency Situations and four mountaineers from the Mountaineering Federation.
