During the meeting, Shakiev expressed his appreciation for the continuous partnership between Kyrgyzstan and the UNDP, emphasizing that their cooperation dates back to the early years of the country's independence. He highlighted the significance of the assistance and support provided by the UNDP, particularly during the challenging times of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Speaker also emphasized the priority areas for partnership and development. He mentioned that Kyrgyzstan is currently working on the implementation of the National Development Program until 2026. In this regard, the country is keen on collaborating with the UNDP to carry out joint projects focusing on environmental protection, the introduction of environmentally friendly technologies, and the promotion of a green economy.

Shakiev further drew attention to the "Five Years of Action for the Development of the Mountain Region," which was declared during the 77th session of the UN General Assembly on December 14, 2022. Kyrgyzstan has developed a draft roadmap to guide its efforts within this framework, aiming to work diligently towards its goals.

To recognize Louise Chamberlain's commendable work as the UNDP Resident Representative in Kyrgyzstan, the Speaker of Parliament presented her with a Certificate of Merit from the Parliament, acknowledging her contributions.

In her remarks, Chamberlain discussed the various activities carried out by the UNDP and stressed the pivotal role played by the Parliament of Kyrgyzstan in the implementation of joint projects. She expressed her commitment to continuing cooperation in all areas, particularly emphasizing the need to work together within the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) framework. Chamberlain also underscored the importance of addressing environmental concerns, promoting a green economy, and advancing digitalization.

The meeting between the Speaker of Parliament, Nurlanbek Shakiev, and the UNDP Resident Representative, Louise Chamberlain, signifies the strong and enduring partnership between Kyrgyzstan and the UNDP. By focusing on priority areas such as environmental sustainability, technology, and sustainable development, the two entities aim to foster further progress and positive change in the country.
