Akylbek Zhaparov, Head of the Administration of the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, promised to address the water supply in the Chuy region within two or three years as he met with residents from Orok and Sokuluk villages.
Reportedly, Akylbek Zhaparov has requested that the mayor of Bishkek address the matter of water supply for the settlements and take the necessary steps to ensure its resolution within a week.
The Cabinet of Ministers has expressed its willingness to allocate funds to resolve the issue of drinking water scarcity in Bishkek and the Chuy region.
Zhaparov stressed the need for a permanent cascade tank that is not dependent on weather conditions and recharge. The Cabinet of Ministers is willing to finance additional wells, daily and decade regulation pools, and requested calculations and vision.
Akylbek Zhaparov stressed that it is the government's responsibility not to leave people in such a dire situation. He has directed a review of fines for using drinking water for irrigation purposes and the implementation of differentiated tariffs. Additionally, he emphasized the importance of installing suitable meters across all areas.
Earlier, Daryo reported that Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan had established a collaborative initiative to erect a hydroelectric power station at the Kambarata reservoir. Media reports that this undertaking appears to be moving closer to implementation after recent meetings held in Tashkent, where the energy ministers of the three countries expressed their interest.
