In Osh, in the south of Kyrgyzstan, a strong fire broke out on July 2 at 7.36 p.m in the nursing home for elderly people and orphaned children called 'Boorukerdik.' This information was provided by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of the Kyrgyz Republic.
To extinguish the fire, two fire brigades were deployed. The total area affected exceeded 399 square metres. The cause of the fire is under investigation.
According to preliminary information, there are no casualties.
Local authorities have concluded that it will take at least two months to rebuild the facility. The reconstruction of the nursing home is planned with the assistance of the district administration and sponsors. In the meantime, the children will be temporarily placed in foster families (trained families that take children under their care for a specific period based on an agreement).
Currently, the Osh police are conducting an investigation into the cause of the fire. CCTV footage is being reviewed, and witnesses are being interviewed.
