Kyrgyzstan's president, Sadyr Japarov, initiated the construction of a groundbreaking city, named "Asman" ("Sky"), on the shores of Issyk-Kul.
The momentous occasion took place on June 30, marked by a ceremonial foundation stone laying.
The ambitious project aims to complete the city within a span of seven to ten years, accommodating a population of 500,000 to 700,000 residents. With an estimated cost of $20bn, the construction will be privately funded, without reliance on government budgetary resources.
The visionary design of the city draws inspiration from the Kyrgyz national instrument, the komuz, with an aerial view resembling its distinctive shape. The city's infrastructure will prioritize the incorporation of alternative energy sources, resource optimization, eco-friendly transportation, and a commitment to a green economy.
