During a rally in Philadelphia, Trump promised to eliminate all diversity, equity, and inclusion programs "across the entire federal government.”
The U.S. Supreme Court on June 29 struck down race-conscious admissions programs at Harvard University and the University of North Carolina, effectively prohibiting affirmative action policies long used to raise the number of Black, Hispanic and other underrepresented minority students on American campuses.
“To vigorously enforce yesterday's Supreme Court ruling, I will eliminate all diversity, equity and inclusion programs across the entire federal government,” Trump stated.
Trump also said student loan debt forgiveness "would have been very unfair" to those who had already paid their loans.
“What they did yesterday. If you've worked hard, gotten fantastic marks, done well in all of the other various things that you have to do well on somebody that hasn't done nearly as well, who perhaps has not worked as hard, will not be taking your place on a school, college or university roster any longer. Today the Supreme Court, this is today, today the Supreme Court also ruled that President Biden is not allowed to wipe out hundreds of billions and perhaps trillions of dollars in student loan debt, which would have been very unfair to the millions and millions of people who paid their debt through hard work and diligence. Very unfair.” Trump said at his rally.
On June 30, the Court blocked Joe Biden's plan to cancel $430 bn in student loan debt but the President announced new steps to provide relief for student loan borrowers.
