Recently the relations of strategic partnership between Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan have been comprehensively developing in all spheres, Uzbek President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said in a letter to his Turkmen counterpart Serdar Berdimuhamedov.
The letter was sent on the occasion of the Muslim holiday Kurban Bayram, which is celebrated in Turkmenistan from June 28 to 30.
"There is no doubt that this holy holiday, which is widely celebrated by our brotherly peoples with a common history, language, religion and culture, will contribute to further strengthening mutual understanding between the two countries".
Mirziyoyev also said joint efforts to strengthen bilateral cooperation meet the fundamental interests of the friendly Uzbek and Turkmen peoples.

Turkmenistan ranks eighth among Uzbekistan's trade partners. This is due to the fact that Uzbekistan has switched to direct purchase of energy from Turkmenistan, and cross-border trade has intensified.
Last year, trade turnover between the countries reached $926.3mn, five times more than in 2017.
For Turkmenistan, the border with Uzbekistan is the longest among neighbouring countries - about 1700 km.
