Soldier in Taldykorgan, Kazakhstan, has been sentenced to seven years of imprisonment for his involvement in the January protests, Sputnik Kazakhstan reports.
The investigation revealed that on January 8, 2022, the defendant fired at a car carrying a family. The spouses and their 15-year-old daughter were returning home. As a result, all three of them died from the gunshot wounds.
The military court of the Almaty garrison considered the aggravating circumstance of committing the crime during a state of emergency and violating the military oath.
The soldier did not admit guilt. The affected party was awarded $15.6 thousand in compensation for moral damages.
During the January tragedy in Kazakhstan, 238 people died.
