The Pension Fund reminded that self-employed citizens can retire.
The law on state pension provision states that citizens can receive a full pension at the age of 60, while women can receive it at 55. Additionally, people with a minimum of 7 years of work experience are eligible for a partial pension.
The Pension Fund also highlights that the legislation allows for the possibility of granting pensions to unemployed individuals. According to the presidential decree on simplifying state regulation of entrepreneurial activity and self-employment, self-employed individuals engaged in 78 specified types of work and registered accordingly, paying social taxes of at least one base calculation ($28.95), will have a one-year work experience. This means that unemployed citizens will be entitled to a pension if they consistently contribute the social tax payment to the Pension Fund for seven years.
Currently, the minimum pension amount for partial work experience, including allowances, is $46.94 per month. The pension amount depends on the salary and work experience, with a higher social tax payment leading to a higher pension amount.
As of June 1, 2023, Uzbekistan has a total of 4,447,597 pension and benefit recipients, including 3,839,508 pensioners, and 608,089 benefit recipients. The number of pension recipients based on age will reach 3,182,617, while there will be 426,532 recipients with disability pensions and 230,359 recipients of survivor pensions.
