The UN human rights chief Volker Türk and the European Union have voiced concern over the continuous violence in the occupied West Bank, as well as settlers' attacks on Palestinian civilians. However, a key member of Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's cabinet has urged for illegal settlers' outposts to be extended and made into complete settlements.
The Mayor of Turmusayya informs that hundreds of Israeli settlers occupied the Palestinian town on June 21, the day after four Jewish settlers were killed nearby. Those assassinations were carried out in reaction to an Israeli military assault in the Jenin region.
The EU representative to the Palestinians, accompanied by more than 20 diplomatic missions from the EU and beyond, visited Turmusayya "to express condolences to the victims of the settler attacks on 21 June and see the houses and property impacted," according to the mission's Twitter account.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) chief spokesman also denounced the settlement attacks in Turmusayya and Urif. The event, according to Rear Admiral Daniel Hagari, was "very grave."
"This is an incident that creates terror and escalation, and takes the population that isn't involved in terror and pushes it [toward extremism], while preventing the IDF from fighting terror in operational activities," he said to Army Radio.
At least seven Palestinians were killed in an Israeli military operation in the Jenin refugee camp on June 19, which included helicopter bombings. There were at least 91 Palestinians and seven Israeli troops injured.
Among other international reactions to this week's violence, Turkey's Foreign Ministry stated that it was "deeply concerned about the increasing tension," and denounced the alleged destruction of the Quran in one West Bank mosque on June 23.
The Moroccan Foreign Ministry indicated earlier this week that the Negev Forum that should happen in July, which brings together Morocco and three other Arab governments with Israel and the US, will be postponed due to a difficult political atmosphere.
The UAE urged Israeli authorities on June 23 to "reduce escalation and avoid steps that exacerbate tension and violence in the Palestinian territories."
On June 20, Daryo mentioned that Israeli forces entered one of the most volatile communities in the occupied West Bank a gunfight occurred on June 19, killing at least five Palestinians and injuring scores more as the Israeli military struggled to rescue troops under heavy fire.
